Board of Directors Elects Richard Lannamann Chairman
New York, NY, August 9 -- At a special meeting of the Board of Directors, Richard Lannamann has been named Chairman of the Board of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, effective immediately. After many years of dedicated service, former Chairman Connie Steensma has decided to step down from the leadership of the Board, but will retain her affiliation with Orpheus. Mr. Lannamann will serve for a period while the Board undergoes preparations for, and determines leadership necessary to guide the organization through a future capital campaign. Mr. Lannamann has served on the Board since 2000, most recently as chair of the Nominating Committee, as well as a member of the Executive Committee.
"The musicians and staff of Orpheus are especially pleased that Richard Lannamann will assume the position of Chairman," said Ronnie Bauch, Managing Director, violinist, and a 32-year member of the Orchestra. "As a Trustee and Committee Chair for several years, Mr. Lannamann brings with him a wealth of experience, and has exhibited leadership and acumen in virtually every area critical to the success of the organization. His loyal dedication to the Orchestra and its artistic mission has justly earned him the strong support of the entire Orpheus family."
With regard to his new role as Chairman, Mr. Lannamann said "I am honored for the confidence the musicians, fellow board members, and staff has placed in me to lead Orpheus as Chairman. I am very pleased to continue my relationship with Orpheus in this new capacity and am deeply indebted to Connie Steensma for all she has achieved over the past several years. As the orchestra moves ahead on a wide variety of exciting new projects in the upcoming seasons, I expect to work collaboratively with our various constituencies and many loyal supporters."
In speaking of Ms. Steensma's tenure, Graham Parker, General Director said, "Connie Steensma's chairmanship has seen tremendous growth for Orpheus. She has secured the financial stability of the organization, expanded the number and strength of our board of directors, and has created a solid, sustainable fundraising strategy. We are grateful for all she has accomplished, and are delighted she will continue to support Orpheus as a member of the Board."
"I am honored to be succeeded as Chair by Rick Lannamann, whom I have relied upon as a key member of our Executive Committee throughout my term," says Ms. Steensma. "Besides Rick's extraordinary professional credentials, he is a passionate long-term supporter of Orpheus, and has a deep understanding of this unique treasure of an orchestra. Orpheus is fortunate to have Rick's leadership in this next stage of its growth."
